Imphal, October 21 2009: Two PLA cadres have been reportedly killed in an ambush suspectedly launched jointly by Assam Rifles and armed cadres of NSCN (IM) which is undergoing peace talks with the Government of India at Nungsit Haibi located above Chandrakhong under Yairipok Police Station at around 5 pm of October 19 .

The two slain PLA cadres have been identified as Laishram Chingkheinganba alias John (23) s/o late Thoiba of Mayang Imphal Samushang Santipur and Yengkhom Bungocha alias Sanayaima (22) s/o late Manithoiba of Awang Leikinthabi.

The bodies have been claimed by their respective family members after postmortem examination at RIMS today.

On the other hand, another suspected UG cadre was reportedly killed during an encounter with the security forces at Sarik Konjil under Waikhong PS in Thoubal District at around 9 pm yesterday.

According to be sources, one AK-56, 15 live rounds of ammunition and one Chinese hand grenade were recovered from the possession of the slain UG cadre.
