Imphal, December 14 2008: Secretary of the local Meira Paibi group of Nongren under Lamlai police station has been shot dead by unidentified persons tonight.

Seram ongbi Shanti (50) wife of Sanajaoba of Nongren Mayai Leikai was shot dead at her own residential gate.

At about 8.30 pm, around 10 unidentified persons came and called out Shanti from her home before shooting her.

As she was rushed to JN Hospital, doctors declared her brought dead.

The corpse of the deceased woman has been taken to RIMS morgue.
