Imphal, December 11 2008: A man from Heirok who has been undergoing treatment at Chandigarh after he was shot by the UNLF succumbed to his injuries this morning.

The deceased is identified as Laishram Sashikumar (30) son of Raghumani of Heirok Part II Litan Makhong.

He sustained injuries in the thigh when UNLF cadres shot him after calling him out of his pharmacy at RIMS Road at about 11 am of September 15.Sashikumar succumbed at the PGI Chandigarh during a surgical operation conducted to amputate his injured leg at about 9 am today.

According to information received by the press, a mass procession will be taken out at Heirok tomorrow.

It may be recalled that in connection with the shooting of Sashikumar, Heirok people took out a protest rally till Imphal.

On the return journey, unidentified persons attacked them by opening fire at the bus in which they were travelling leaving three of them injured.
