Imphal, December 08 2008: Five militants were killed in an encounter with Thoubal police comman-dos today at about 8.40 pm near the bridge lea-ding Langathel.

Police source said that the militants came on a Tata truck and when they crossed the bridge, com-mandos on duty nearby went after them on sus-picion.

The militants opened fire at the com-mandos and in the ensu-ing encounter five of them were killed.

Arms and ammos were recovered.
