Imphal, January 07: The president of the North Eastern Hill Village Authorities Council, Shillong, BD Shami and its legal advisor R Daniel have urged the people to raise their voice against AFSPA.

Asserting that killings and violation of human rights have been committed under the Act, the two in a statement said that the Act violates Article 21 of the Constitution as well as basic human rights and is against the Rule of Law.

State terrorism is not the answer to terrorism, said the statement and added that AFSPA also violates Article 3 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948.The time is now right to raise a united voice so that the life of Sharmila may be saved.
