Imphal, October 29 2008: While condemning the torching of inter-State bus at Lahorijan of Assam killing two persons of Zelinagrong community All Zeliangrong Students' Union (AZSU) Assam, Manipur, Nagaland recounted the past instances which according the organisation were the attempts to target the Zeliangrong people by the Kuki militants.

A press release issued by its general secretary Joshua Dangmei said that 37 houses of Daron Namdai (B), a Zeliangrong village near Ngariyan Kokadon Khullen along Old Cachhar road were destroyed by Kuki militants on March 12 last.

The quit threat served to Paokam villagers in September this year, the atrocity at Thonglang and Chalwa area on IT Road in the same month, in which bus services were suspended and threat against Talamlong (Waphong of Tamenglong district) in the recent time were the instances of targeting Zeliangrong people by Kuki militants, added the press release.

Joshua Dangmei also urged the Kuki militants to stop the 'hide and seek' game as the region is already tense with such happenings.

Assam, Manipur and Nagaland Governments should take up security measures to avoid untoward incidents between the communities, Joushua warned.

Kuki Women Union, Manipur, Zeliangrong Youth Front, Imphal zone and Langol Tarung Youth Club also condemned the burning of bus at Lahorijan.
