Imphal, June 28 2009: Security forces have gunned down two suspected under-ground activists at a Bishnupur district area at around 9.30 pm today while half an hour earlier unidentified persons exploded a hand-grenade at the Loklaobung private residence of Fishery Department's Director Karam Saratkumar.

According to a police report, a shoot-out ensued at Gemon Lamkhai near Tronglaobi of Bishnupur district a commando team moved in following specific information regarding presence of UG suspects.

Search of the encounter site led to the recovery of a Sten Carbine with a magazine and five rounds, and one 9 mm pistol, a magazine and four rounds.

Two demand notes of the proscribed KCP were also recovered from the possession of the slain duo whose bodies have been retrieved by the police.

Regarding the Loklaobung explosion, police said the grenade was blasted at the courtyard of the Director's residence.

There is no report of injury.
