Imphal, January 27: Highlighting its future vision of the State, MPP released a conceptual document titled Vision Manipur today at its office.

The document in booklet form was compiled by eminent economist Prof N Mohendro who is also the vice-president of MPP.

Speaking at the release function MPP president Dr L Chandramani said that Vision Manipur was part of the party's election manifesto.

The basic objective of bringing out the booklet was to share the party's vision of Manipur with the people.

MPP's vision for Manipur is a self-reliant State, not dependent on other States of India, he summed up.

Observing that Manipur is still dependent on the country's economy even after more than 50 years of independence, the MPP president pledged that the party, if elected to power, would pursue such economic reforms propounded in Vision Manipur.

The 23 paged booklet compiled by Prof N Mohendro, ex-HOD Economics Department, MU noted that Manipur has become a captive economy because of persistent poor governance, deep rooted corruption, high rate of poverty, unemployment, insecure environment and lack of employment avenues.

The Vision Manipur incorporated three dimensions economic objectives, social objectives and political objectives.

Under the economic objectives, it seeks to mitigate dependency by liberating Manipur from the shackles of the present state of economic captivity and transforming Manipur into a competitive surplus State by 2020.To take optimum advantage of India's Look East Policy is another agenda put forward by the vision document.

Under the social objectives, it seeks to neutralise any calculated design aimed at creating ethnic division while promoting cultural diversity and upholding the historical roots of social harmony and interdependence between the hills and valley.

To lift the political status of Manipur into a new level, free from undue interference and dependency is one of the principal political objectives as envisioned in the MPP's Vision.
