JAC ultimatum

Imphal, February 24, 2010: JAC constituted in connection with the death of Constable Thomas Kamei has served an ultimatum to Chief Minister O Ibobi demanding arrest of SI (probation) S Suresh before 12 noon of February 25.The ultimatum also demanded extending ex-gratia/compensation and other liabilities permissible under the law to the family of the deceased within the given time.

The ultimatum submitted today, said that the 'brutal' killing of Thomas L Kamei by a fellow policeman namely S Suresh, amounted to a killing committed by security force of the State Government.

The ultimatum signed by JAC president K Ashing added cited police sources quoted by newspapers that Thomas died of the physical clash involving S Suresh on the night of February 21.It further said that the police commandos who came in four vehicles must be aware about the incident.

The JAC however decided to respect the Chief Minister who expressed his concern on 'the need of the time' during his meeting with JAC members yesterday.

Meanwhile, a press release issued by Imphal police station O/C informed that the corpse of Thomas Kamei would be disposed off if it is not claimed by February 26.
