Two bombs found at Lamphel

Imphal, May 18 2009: Two explosives were found at two different places in Lamphel area today.

One lethod shell was found near the shutter of the building in which settlement and land records are being stored, inside Settlement Directorate behind Imphal West DC office complex.

The bomb wrapped tightly by paper was discovered by a Chowkidar when he went to open the shutter at about 10 am.

Police have retrieved the explosive.

Shortly afterward, a Chinese hand grenade was found at the residential gate of SBI (Small and Medium Enterprises) Manager Thangkhasuan Tunglut at Lamphel Super Market (House No.35) .

A piece of paper placed beneath the grenade was found written with the words "if you don't want to die, contact through these numbers".

Three mobile phone numbers were given on the paper.

The hand grenade was later set off safely by explosive experts of Manipur at an isolated place in Lamphelpat.

On the other hand, a protest demonstration was staged today in front of Langol View Clinic against the grenade attack at the clinic by KCP (MC) on May 16 .

Though the grenade attack was aimed at Langol View Clinic, it landed and exploded inside RIMS campus.
