New Delhi, January 17 (PTI): The State CPI unit has released its election manifesto, promising to fight against corruption and defection.

Releasing the manifesto at Irabot Bhawan this evening, CPI general secretary P Parijat said that the party is wedded to principle of fighting corruption and defection.

The CPI will galvanize public opinion on this score, he added.

The CPI will place priorities on pressuring the Centre to give Constitutional guarantee to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur and strive for emotional integrity amongst the hill and valley people.

Priorities will also be placed on developing dialects of the hill people and the Manipuri language.

The CPI is also for reviving the autonomous district councils in the hill areas, he said.

Stating that constant party hopping is the bane to stability, Parijat said if the CPI is party to any Government formation then it would strive to initiate dialogues with all underground organizations on equal footing.

CPI Control Commission Chairman L Ibohal said that corruption thrives in India because there is no political will and determination to fight the menace.

The CPI is fully committed to fight corruption at all levels, he said.

The CPI will not have pre-poll pact with any other political parties.

However Ibohal hastened to add that the party will support the NCP, DPP and CPM in constituencies where it does not field its own candidate.

If the RSP fields any candidate then the CPI will also support their candidate, he said.

The Communist party is set to contest in 16 seats.
