Police likely to interrogate Th Nando

Imphal, June 16 2009: Imphal West police is likely to seek the permission of the Court to arrest Thokchom Nando of Khangabok who is currently lodged in Sajiwa Jail for interrogation in connection with the killing of contractor Yengkhom Krishnadas after being abducted on ransom demand by some unidentified armed persons.

According to a reliable source, authorities of the Imphal West Police have taken up necessary measures to arrest Nando formally.

The move has come after the raid jointly conducted by Imphal West and Imphal East District Police at Sajiwa Central Jail yesterday.

It may be noted here that a resident of Kakching Sumak Leikai Mandap Pareng, 42-year old contractor Yengkhom Krishnadas was abducted by some armed persons from his wife's place at Thangmeiband Khomdram Selungba Leikai on the night of June 10 in connection with a ransom demand of Rs 2 crores.

He was found brutally murdered at Lilong Chingjao in the morning of the following day even after the family members have paid Rs 25 lakhs to the armed abductors for securing his safe release after negotiation of the ransom amount.

Police have also arrested a woman identified as Seram Ashalata Devi (36) of Tera Sayang Lambi Konjengbam Leikai who had reportedly collected the ransom amount on behalf of the armed abductors.
