Imphal, December 13 2009: One suspected cadre of KCP-MC (Lamyanba Khuman) has been killed in a reported encounter with a combined force near Lairon village of Waroiching.

According to a police source, a combined team of Bishnupur district commandos and troops of 4/8 GR were engaged in a gun-fight with armed militants suspected to be cadres of KCP-MC at about 5 pm today.

While one militant was killed in the gun-fight, others managed to make their escape good.

Some weapons including an AK rifle were recovered from the area during a search operation later in the day.

Nambol police have picked up the corpse and deposited at RIMS mortuary.

Meanwhile, a press release issued by the PRO of Hqs IG AR (S) said that One 9 mm US made pistol, three live rounds, three fired cartridges of 9mm and one personal diary were recovered from the militant slain in an encounter with troops of 29 Assam Rifles at Semang in Chandel district at about 3.45 pm yesterday.

According to the diary, the slain militant was PLA's S/S 2nd Lt Anil alias Premjit alias Prem alias Ali.

The corpse and the recovered items have been handed over to Tengnoupal police station.

On the other hand, 22 Grenadiers recovered a pressure activated cylindrical IED from Khengjang area at about 11.45 am yesterday.

The IED which was 500 grams in weight, 6 inches in length and 3 inches in diameter was destroyed in situ.
