JAC submits memo

Imphal, April 11 2009: The JAC constituted in connection with the killing of Kangbam Netrajit, Kangbam Brajamohon and Henam Sanachouba by Thoubal police commandos in a reported encounter at Ikop Pat on April has submitted a memorandum to the Governor today.

The memorandum was a copy of the one submitted to the Chief Minister yesterday.

The demands listed in the memorandum are punishment to the security personnel involved in killing the three allegedly innocent youths and institution of a judicial enquiry into the killing.

The JAC members and Meira Paibis were blocked by police at Takyel Kolom Leikai Khongnang Makhong at about 4.30 pm on their way to the Raj Bhavan.

Later, some representatives of the JAC were allowed to proceed and submit the memorandum to the Governor.

Earlier in the day, a public meeting was held at the ground of Karong Young Union Club in connection with the killing of the three youths.

The meeting was attended by local volunteers and Meira Paibis of Thaoroijam, Luker, Haorang Khunou, Maklang, Kachikhul, Karong, Sangaithel, Thuijang, Tairenpokpi and Sairengkhul.

Representatives of the AMUCO, MAPI Council, HRI, MAFYF, COHR and Poirei Leimarol also participated in the meeting.

The meeting resolved to undertake various forms of agitation in association with different civil organisations until the demands of the JAC are fulfilled by the Government.
