Imphal, November 08, 2008: A joint action committee has been constituted in connection with the killing of Salam Ajit of Thanga Heisnam Leikai and Yumnam Binoy of Lamjao Mayai Leikai by a combined team of Imphal West commandos and troops of 39 AR on November 7 at Sekmai Bottling Plant.

Contending that the two persons were innocent, the JAC has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding a judicial enquiry into the killing.

It maintained that Ajit and Binoy collected Rs 2 lakhs from their relatives and went to purchase business materials at Imphal before they were picked by the security personnel on November 7 .

Alleging that the security personnel confiscated gold chain, gold ring and mobile phones from the duo before they were done to death under the false accusation of being UG cadres, the JAC has demanded ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakhs each to the families of the deceased.

The JAC also demanded that all the belongings of Ajit and Binoy allegedly confiscated by the security personnel should be returned to their families.

It also urged upon the Government to provide a suitable Government job to one family member of each of the deceased.

Further, demanding that all the security found guilty for the killing should be awarded befitting punishment, the JAC maintained that the corpses of the duo would not be claimed until and unless the Government agree to the demands.

The memorandum, a copy of which has been made available to press, warned that the JAC will call general strike from November 10 in case the Government fails to consider their demands positively by tomorrow.
