Imphal, March 07, 2010: In an alleged murder attempt, a 35-year old mother of four children was tried to be throttled by her brother-in-law in front of her own children.

The maternal family members of victim have filed a report in this connection with the Thoubal Police which has subsequently registered a case.

The incident reportedly took place at around 7.30 of March 4 at Thoubal Keibung Makha Leikai.

The victim has been identified as Mina, d/o late Janab Ali and Tombi of Thoubal Keibung Mayai Leikai but married to Nasir Hussein alias Amu of Thoubal Keibung Makha Leikai.

She was reportedly saved by the local people while the accused identified as Ito, younger brother of her husband was trying to strangulate.

Talking to The Sangai Express, Mina, who is currently undergoing treatment at RIMS Hospital here, informed that her husband Nasir Hussein as well as his younger brother Ito have been subjecting her to various domestic violence for over 10 years now on the issue of giving birth to more daughters than sons as well as on account her hearing impairment.

Mina is the mother of five children.

Her eldest daughter is 14 years old, the second daughter 10 and the third daughter 7 years.

The fourth child is a son who is 4 years old while the youngest is again a daughter who is just one year old.

''It is just that you don't see blood coming out.

But the truth is that I feel pain all over my body from constant beating of my husband and his younger brother for over 10 years now.

Despite medication, I also cannot sleep at night'', Mina said.

Recalling about the latest incident, Mina said she was carrying her youngest child and trying to fetch water from a pond when her accused brother in-law came from behind and suddenly pulled her hair hard.

As a result, she fell down on her back along with her child.

Without saying anything, her brother in-law also started landing punching on her face and head and she lost consciousness.

When she regained consciousness, local womenfolk who were tending her informed the accused brother-in-law was found sitting on her chest and trying to strangulate.

''This was not the first time that my brother-in-law Ito has attacked and beat me up.

He has done so many times in the past'', Mina said, while recalling the incident she fainted and hospitalised after being kicked on her stomach by the accused when she was into nine months of pregnancy with her eldest daughter.

According to Mina, after a brief courtship, she entered into wedlock with Janab Ali in March, 1994.But her husband and other family members started ill-treating her as she gave birth to three daughters one after another.

Unfortunately, the physical abuse and mental harassment of her husband and other family members did not stop even after she gave birth to a son.
