Imphal, December 04, 2008: The bullet riddled body of an Assistant Hindi teacher Md Daulat Khan (32) s/o Md Basiruddin of Lilong Khunou suspected to have been shot dead by some unidentified persons last night was found at Yumnam Huidrom Leiphrakpham Phibou under Wangoi police station this morning.

In connection with the killing of the teacher , a joint action committee has been constituted.

Md Daulat Khan was a Hindi teacher in Modern English High School located at Lilong Haoreibi Mayai Leikai.

The JAC has decided not to claim the corpse until and unless the Government book the culprits and punish them accordingly.

On the other hand, students took out a protest rally today.

He was reportedly abducted by some unidentified persons when he was on his way home after the annual examination of his school was over yesterday.

In connection with the killing, a public meeting was held with representatives of the AMSU and DESAM today at Modern English School.

Following the meeting, the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Md Daulat Khan was constituted.

Asking the Government to book and punish the culprits and also to provide ex-gratia and a suitable Government job to one member of the bereaved family, the JAC has resolved not to claim the corpse in case the Government fails to give a definite commitment to fulfil the demands by December 6 .

A memorandum containing all these demands has also been submitted to the Chief Minister through police.

The JAC also warned of launching various forms of agitation until the Government comes up with a positive response.

Responsibility for any untoward incident or eventuality arising out of the agitation should be borne by the Govt, it mentioned.

Later students took out a protest rally from Modern English School to Lilong police station.

Throughout the course of the rally, the students also shouted various slogans like, "We condemn killing of teacher", "Allow us to study in peace", "Book all those responsible for killing the teacher" etc.
