Imphal, March 01: The Gauhati High Court has directed the State not to disturb the family members and friends of the slain PLA cadre, Kh Bikash when his Lanna Thouram is held tomorrow.

Justice TNK Singh issued the order on a petition filed by Kh Ningthem, father of the deceased Bikash of Khangabok Part III.

The petition alleged that Thoubal police commandos had warned the family members of Bikash not to conduct the Lanna Thouram of the departed soul apart from harassing them.

The counsel who appeared on behalf of the petitioner submitted that the rights guaranteed under Article 25 of the Indian Constitution also covers the observance of religious ceremonies and worships which are integral parts of religion.
