Imphal, November 30 2009: The proscribed PREPAK has rejected the claim that Ngairangbam Amit alias Rose (20) s/o late N Birbal of Kyamgei Khoirom Leikai was killed in an encounter with a combined team of Imphal East commandos and troops of 32 AR at Tiger hill camp under Lamlai police station at about 6.30 am of November 18 .

A press release issued by the outfit's Imphal East district commander L Sunil Meitei contended that Amit was pulled up from Uyumpok Terapur at about 3 am of the same day and that he was killed in cold blood.

As against the police claim of recovering one AK 56 rifle, a magazine containing 12 rounds, one Chinese hand grenade and a lathod shell, the outfit alleged that Amit was pulled up along with two AK 47 rifles, two extra magazines and 200 live rounds.

Conceding that Amit was working over ground for the party, it condoled the death of comrade Amit.

The outfit also shared the pain and grief being endured by the bereaved family.
