Imphal, October 26 2009: In order to control the violent incidents of killings which are taking place almost on daily basis in Manipur today, Janata Dal (United) has demanded setting up of an Internal Security Advisory Committee under the Home Department of the State Government.

A statement issued by the general secretary of the party L Lenin pointed out that setting up of an Internal Security Advisory Committee is essential in view of the wide spread public grievances over violent incidents taking place in the State today.

Setting up of the Internal Advisory Committee would help in controlling these violent incidents atleast to some extent and relief the general public, Lenin added.

He also suggested that inclusion of a retired IGP who understands the role of the police thoroughly, a retired Session Judge who is well versed in legal proceedings, representatives of NGOs who can facilitate communicate to understand the aspirations of the people and one or two MLAs as members in the proposed Committee.
