Imphal, October 25 2008: Out of eight suspected UGs shot dead by security forces in three different incidents of encounter which took place in different parts of Imphal on the night of October 23, one of them is yet to be identified.

After the identification of three UG suspects out of the five killed in the encounter with a combined force of Imphal East Police Commandos and personnel of 39 Assam Rifles at Heibi Makhong of Heingang Marjing hill, identity of one more was established today.

He was Thokchom Rishikanta alias Malangba alias AK Jahir Meetei (26) s/o late Singhajit of Nongpok Lourembam.

According to Borish (22), younger brother of the deceased, Rishikanta had been picked up by three unidentified armed persons from a flat at Beltola Panjabri Muslim Road, Guwahati on the night of October 22 .

He was formally a sergeant of the proscribed PLA working as the training instructor but had been retired for the last two years.

However, after retirement from PLA, he was working in the capacity of deputy finance secretary of one PULF faction under the name of AK Jahir.

At the time of his arrest, three mobile handsets, one DVD player and Rs 30,000 in cash had been taken by the unidentified gunmen.

On the other hand, out of two UG suspects killed by a combined force of Imphal West Police Commandos and 39 Assam Rifles in the encounter which took place at Maharabi within minutes of the Heingang incident, remaining one has been today identified as Haokhohen Misao (35) s/o Lalkhojang of Misao Lhahvom village, Churachandpur district.

The other slain UG suspect had already been identified yesterday as Paominlal alias Lalcha Vaiphei (26) s/o Seingam of Nongmaiching Terakhong.

According to Lalkhojang, father of slain Haokhohen Misao, on October 21, his son had gone to Nongmaiching Teramakhong to visit one of his uncles identified as Jamsei Baite.

The identity of another UG suspect shot dead by Imphal West Police Commandos during an alleged encounter on the night of October 21 at Chirai Lamkhai of Mayai Lambi is yet to be established and the body is still lying in the mortuary of RIMS Hospital.

Police claimed to have recovered one carbine and five rounds of ammunition from the slain UG suspect who appeared to be around 35 years of age, 5 feet and 3 inches tall, with oval face shape, wheatish complexion, strongly built and had cropped black hair.

The UG suspect was found clad in blue jean, white T-shirt, red colour belt and a pair of black plastic slippers.

Wangoi Police have issued a notice asking the family members/relatives to come and claim the body.

The identity of the person who was found shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Sekmaijin Konuma in the morning of October 23 is also yet to be established.
