Imphal, January 24 2010: Explaining the reason behind the planting of bombs at the house Toijam Kanta, Pradhan of Kodompokpi and Moirangthem Dolen of Hiyangthang Maning Leikai, a press release signed by Jameson Kuki, Information and Publicity, UKLA(MC) of The United Kuki National Army (Military Council)/UKLA(MC), said that despite repeated invitation for settling outstanding issues through talks, the two did not pay any heed.

Instead the Toijam Kanta challenged the group to a showdown saying he too possesses a gun while Dolen has been instigating meira paibis and local clubs to build up a movement against ULKA(MC), contended the release.

Stating that Manipur is home to various groups and communities, the release pointed out that it would be prudent if bad blood through peaceful discussions.

The release cautioned the people not to use words which will hurt the image of UKLA(MC) and not to interfere in its affairs.

It also asked all those individuals and groups who think UKLA(MC) can be appeased like a child, not to take the group so lightly.

It asked all those who have outstanding financial issues with the group to settle those within three days.

The release also warned all those who are trying to trap UKLA in the security forces' net of severe consequences.

The release also thanked all those who have extended help to UKLA(MC) and urged the people not to forget that ULKF has a well spread network and that no club or meira paibis can give protection all the time to an individual once it decides to take action against that individual.

Lastly, the UKLF, called for a general strike and boycott of the Republic day function, though, fire services, medical, media and religious ceremonies will be exempted from the general strike.
