Imphal, January 21: Brushing aside the poll prospects of other political parties, Chief Minister O Ibobi today proclaimed that except for the Congress party, no party would be able to secure 30 seats in the ensuing Assembly elections and added that not a single MPP candidate can be counted in all the Assembly segments of Thoubal district.

The Chief Minister was speaking at the flag hoisting ceremony of Congress candidate Bijoy Koijam at his residence in Thongju constituency today.

Ibobi claimed that Congress would secure majority in the election and the party wil form the next Govt.Commenting on some seasoned politicians who joined MPP recently, Ibobi said that these politicians approached Congress first but they were denied entry as the Congress party was well aware that their admission would be detrimental to to the party.

Urging the people not to believe MPP candidates who are staking a claim to the Assembly for the last time, Ibobi observed that it would be useless to expect welfare activities from such MLAs.

They will be concerned with their personal welfare, he asserted.

Reacting to the claims of MPP that it would repeal black laws in case the party is elected to power, Ibobi questioned the MPP leaders as to why they did not act when they were in power.

He further appealed to the people to re-elect Bijoy Koijam so that the incomplete development works in the State can be completed.

Today's flag hoisting ceremony was also attended by MPCC president Gaikhangam, MP Dr T Meinya, MLA K Ranjit and MLA I Hemochandra.
