Imphal, May17 2009: Aheibam ongbi Rameshori w/o Nanao alias Jee of Iroishemba Maning Leikai who was reported to have been shot dead on May 1 at her residence was not killed by any body but she committed suicide by shooting herself to death, said a press release issued by KCP-GS group's publicity secretary Malemnganba.

Explaining the circumstances and roots of Rameshori's drastic step, KCP disclosed that both Rameshori and her husband Nanao were over ground workers of the party.

Since two/three days before the fateful day, there were heated arguments between the husband and the wife on the insistence of the latter to stay away from the party.

At one point, Rameshori threatened to kill herself if they (herself and Nanao) should continue association with the party.

Overcame by rage, Rameshori shot herself to death at about 9.30 pm of May 1 when her husband and their youngest daughter of 16 months went out to buy something.

The gun used by Rameshori was earlier used by the outfit's cadre, late Open alias Leingakpa.

The outfit was searching for the gun after Leingakpa's death but the unfortunate incident preceded before the gun could be retrieved.

Informing that the gun has been collected, the outfit lamented that it could not make the clarification in time as the incident demanded a thorough investigation.

As for Nanao's earlier statement that her wife was shot dead by some unidentified persons, it was a lie made for the time being to save himself as he knew that he would fall into the hands of police if he told the truth.

This has been confirmed after questioning Nanao, the outfit said.

The KCP apologised for the loss of a precious live partly because of its failure to retrieve the party's gun in time after Leingakpa's death.

It also shared the pain and anguish being endured by the bereaved families.

The outfit further clarified that Nanao and Rameshori were not drug dealers.

For KCP-GS group, any intimation to the public for any kind of assistance will be made in the name of finance in-charge Khaba Meitei, added the release.
