Thouda Bhabok women protest bomb blast

Imphal, November 06 2009: Taking serious note of the bomb blast near the offices of the Sangai Express and the Matamgi Yakairol at Tidim Road, Thouda Bhabok Leikai in the evening of November 3, local Meira Paibis staged a protest demonstration in front of the two media offices today.

Six persons including a media person sustained injuries in the blast.

The protest demonstration was staged under the aegis of the Sega Road Thouda Bhabok Leikai Women's Development Society.

The protesters put up placards which read as "triggering bomb blast near media offices was an act of thoughtless terrorist", "we condemn bomb attack", "grenade is not a toy", "don't play with people's lives", "we don't want bombs, we want peace" etc.

Speaking to media persons, the protesters asserted that such acts of terrifying people in civilian populated areas would never help in realising any goal of armed groups.

The women protesters also appealed to all concerned not to repeat such absurd activities in future.

Police have already started investigation into the incident after conducting a spot enquiry on the day of the blast.

It is still unclear who triggered the blast.

It cannot be ascertained till date whether the grenade was hurled by any underground outfit or it accidentally slipped out from security personnel.

No arrest has been made in connection with the blast.
