Imphal, July 05 2009: Reacting to a news item published in some sections of the media, president of the JAC formed in connection with the Ragailong bomb blast, Munindro Waikhom today said that out of 36 victims, 29 have already got the compensation amount, which includes the amount from the Prime Minister's relief fund.

Munindro was speaking in a press conference conducted in this regard at Ragailong this afternoon.

He said that efforts are being made to draw out the compensation amount for the remaining victims as well.

Expressing serious note against the allegation levelled against the JAC of handing over only Rs 10 thousand each to 16 victims, out of Rs 50 thousand each provided by the Government, Munindro clarified that the allegation is totally baseless and unfounded.

Maintaining that the amount from the PM's relief fund was directly transferred to the accounts of the victims and the compensation amount provided by the State Government was disbursed through Deputy Commissioner, Munindro said that there was no room for JAC to interfere in handing over the compensation.

He further said that it was unfortunate to level allegations against the JAC without any basis, which could convey wrong message the people.

As the remaining the victims could not produce the identification papers when it needed, Munindro said, compensation amount could not be drawn out in time.

However efforts are being made to get the required amount, he added.
