Imphal, November 04 2009: Reacting to news reports in some State dailies regarding a commando officer shot by his sub-ordinate, Senior Superintendent of Police (Imphal West district) L Kailun dismissed the news item as factually incorrect.

The officer was fired upon by unknown armed youth while trying to nab them, the SSP said in a statement adding the officer sustained injuries on his left finger and right arm.

conveying that one of the armed youth was finally nabbed along with one .38 pistol, a magazine and one live round from near Kalimai Mandir, the SSP identified the captive as an active member of the banned UNLF organisation namely Khumbongmayum gojendro Singh (46) s/o Tomchou Singh of Sagolband Tera.

An FIR case has been registered at Imphal police station and investigation is going on, added the SSP.
