Imphal, October 04 2009: Reacting to the allegation of the KNO/KNA that the protest rally of September 29 was taken out at the behest of the UKLF, the JAC which organised the rally has clarified that the UKLF had no part in the rally.

Speaking to media persons at Molnoi, Pallel this afternoon, convenor of the JAC Against Threatening of Social Leaders Amang Haokip asserted that the rally was taken out against the KNO/KNA's threats to lives of social leaders.

In the event of threats to lives of social leaders by any organisation, different forms of protest agitation would be launched in addition to similar protest rallies.

The convenor also appealed to all organisations not to interfere in public issues whether they may be KNO/KNA or UKLF or any other organisation.

Whatever disputes or conflicts existing between armed organisations should not spilled into public domain, he asserted.

He further appealed to all concerned not to project the peace rally in bad light by linking it to disagreements among armed organisations.

Conceding that the JAC announced a fine of Rs 100 on any women and Rs 200 each on village chiefs in case they abstained themselves from the rally, Amang Haokip, however rejected the KNO/KNA's assertion that the fine was imposed at the instigation of the UKLF.

Further reacting to the claim of the KNO/KNA that they saved the Kuki people of Chandel from NSCN (IM) during the Naga-Kuki clash, the JAC convenor maintained that it was not KNO/KNA nor UKLF but Kuki Defence Force and Southern Kuki Boys Commando who saved Kukis from NSCN (IM) during the ethnic conflict.
