and added if there are any contending view points, then it is the written rules and regulations that gain precedence.

Recalling the 1998-99 election, MUSU said that it was held not in accordance with conventions and questioned what power, the Dean and RO had.

In that election, two candidates were in the fray and intense campaigning was launched but in the end it was another person who was elected unopposed as the president of MUSU, said the statement.

When the election committee announced that for the election of MUSU for 1999-2000, all candidates should submit their Class X and Class XII original certificates while submitting their nomination papers, many of them put in their best efforts to obtain the original certificates and were able to submit them along with their nomination papers, said MUSU.

The question is should the compulsory submission of original certificates be taken as something impossible to achieve ? it asked.

Responding to the various view points expressed by different sections on the election of MUSU, the student body laid down a couple of points.

Raising a question, MUSU asked KYKL whether they suspected that anything was amiss in the election process before or after the scrutiny date (April 20).In case there was any suspicion before April 20, then why wasn't the scrutiny stopped ? In case the suspicion was aroused after April 20, then can the MUSU members be held responsible, it asked.

Following the debate over the election process, MU authority had constituted a two men inquiry committee, said MUSU and added the inquiry committee could not come up with any proof to show that the election process was wrong.

Nothing to this effect was conveyed either to the people or MU authority.

Despite this, did the inquiry committee submit any report to the KYKL that the election process was wrong, asked the student body.

If such a report was submitted, then can KYKL announce it to the people ? If the committee had not submitted such a report, because they were not bound to do so, then on what basis is it said that election process was wrong.

(To be contd) .
