Two babies' corpses found

Imphal, January 04 01 2010: Two dead infants believed to be twins were found lying on the road at Tera Lukram Leirak under Lamphel police station this morning to take the instance of recovery of dead infants to three with another one recovered in the morning of December 31 last year.

On December 31 last, a dead body of newly born child was discovered from the bank of Karak River near Athokpam Khunjao under Thoubal police station.

The discovery was made by the villagers who later informed the police.

Police retrieved the lifeless body of the infant at about 2.30 pm and registered a case and kept it at RIMS morgue.

No one so far has claimed the dead infants, police source said.

Today, locals of Tera Lukram Leirak on morning walk discovered two dead bodies of infants believed to be twins lying on the road.

One of the dead infants was found packed with a plastic bag while the other one with the legs and body separated was found nearby.

Locals said that the plastic bag was seen lying there for the last two days or so but they did not much attention to it.

Dogs dragged it out on the road.

Lamphel police retrieved the dead bodies of infants and kept it at RIMS morgue.

A case has also been registered, reports added.
