Imphal, May 03 2009: Tension has gripped Karong area in Senapati district, after an ex-service man who was abducted along with his Mini truck by unidentified persons was found murdered today.

A former soldier of the Naga Regiment, the victim identified as Bungo (35) of T Khullen village under Senapati police was abducted by unidentified persons along with his 207 DI Tata from Senapati bazar on April 29 .

The body of the deceased was recovered from along a river bank at a spot located near Khabum village.

The village is located not far from the Karong bridge.

The body did not bear any bullet injuries but bore signs of beating.

Senapati police have recovered the body and reports said that the DI truck of the late man was found sold to a man from Khabun village at a very cheap price.

As news of the murder sprea, tension broke out between two groups of people at Karong area.

A source said that to contain any undesirable consequences, Senapati police have intensified security in the said area.

Two persons suspected to be involved in the murder have been rounded up by the local people, but they are yet to be handed over to the police.

firing victims admitted to Shija hospital : The four persons, who are suspected to have been caught in cross-firing at a Tamenglong district area on May 1 evening have been admitted and undergoing treatment at SHIJA hospital.

According to a source, the four were among occupants of a timber-loaded Shakti-man truck coming towards Imphal.

While on the move at around 3 pm of May 1, they came across a man lying still on the road with an AK series rifle near the body at Hundung village area (close to Singda) and later observed presence of army personnel in the location.

having loaded the body on a vehicle the four reportedly proceeded and were preparing to rest at near the Hundung Church when firing began at around 6 pm.

With the bullets flying all around owing to the firing from unknown source/directions the four soon found themselves bleeding with bullet wounds.

The injured persons, who have been brought to the private medical centre are identified as Seilen (driver) of K Sunglung village, assistant driver Mangou (18) of Awlmun village, helper Zakhama (29) of Taban and one Chaotombi of Maklang, informed to be the timber owner.

Of the four condition of Mangou is stated to be serious as he has been wounded on the right thigh and abdomen area.

Meanwhile, our Jiribam correspondent said NSCN (K), Zeliangrong Region has expressed solidarity to the family of Pvt Phillip Zemei alias Kolobi, who was slain in an encounter with troops of 14 Mahar Regiment in a Tamenglong district area at around 6.30 pm of May 1 .

Hailing from Asalu village of north Cachar Hills district in Assam, Phillip got killed in the gunfight that broke out at Lanka village under Tamei police station, detailed the outfit's Zeliangrong Region publicity in-charge Loveson and added that NSCN (K) shares sorrow of the bereaved family.
