Imphal, May 29 2009: Questioning the motive behind claim of KYKL, People's United Liberation Front (PULF) has asserted that Prod Islamuddin was killed by IRB personnel.

In a statement, signed by Ramjan Alam, the publicity cell of the armed outfit said after an investigation conducted by its mobile team it has come to the conclusion that Prof Islamuddin was killed by four IRB personnel who came wearing civilian cloth over their uniform.

After committing the crime, the killers fled for some distance where they removed the civilian cloths and managed to escape.

Questioning the motive behind the claim of KYKL when the crime had been actually committed by some IRB personnel, the statement said the Government should find out whether all the personnel in the IRB battalions are KYKL cadres or whether they are real IRB personnel.

Condemning the killing of Prof Islamuddin without giving any warning, the armed outfit said the void left by the death of a prominent economist of the State like Prof Islamuddin would not be filled up even after 50 years.

Reacting to the charges levelled against Prof Islamuddin posthumously, the armed outfit contended that Prof Islamuddin was not responsible for the conduct of the election of MUSU as he had already resigned from the post of the Dean of Students' Welfare even before the election.

If Prof Islamuddin has been dubbed as a member in the clique responsible for corruption in Manipur University, then KYKL should think over eliminating the remaining members if it really intends to cleanse the system, the armed outfit said.

Explaining its stand on the issue, PULF said it has been compelled to raise its voice against the killing of Prof Islamuddin, though he was not connected with the outfit in any way, as it has the potential of questioning the integrity of Manipur and posing threat on the identity of the Muslim community in the State.
