Imphal, August 28 2009: The 2nd Bn IRB personnel who is being detained in connection with the recent bomb attack at the Chamber Hospital, Thangal Bazar, has been taken into custody by Imphal police.

The IRB Rifleman, namely, Tayenjam Munal (37) from yairipok Yambem Khunou but staying at Lamphel Sanakeithel at the time the attack was carried out on August 21, was produced before the Court of the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Imphal today after which he was ordered to remain in judicial custody for 15 more days.

Munal's case is being handled by City Police station where he was detained since August 22 following a Court order.

even as the Court issued directive for further judicial remand of the accused security personnel, Imphal Police station authorities sought the Court's consent to take Munal into custody which was upheld.

Munal was apprehended by some alert members of the public, moments after triggering the blast at the private medical centre, reportedly carried out at the behest of a banned armed group.

It is informed that charges are being framed by imphal police station against Munal after invoking Sections 307/34 and 3 related to Explosive Substances Act.
