Imphal, October 23 2008: The monetary assistance of Rs 50,000 given to RIMS Superintendent Dr Y Mohen by Governor Gurbachan Jagat yesterday towards treatment of the injured victims of the October 21 Pandon blast undergoing treatment in RIMS has been handed over to the Voluntary Help Unit Committee, RIMS today.

At a simple function held at his office, Dr Mohen handed over the amount to the president of the Committee.

There, president of the Voluntary Help Unit Committee Moirangthem Subash informed that it has expended Rs 1.5 lakhs so far in the treatment of injured victims admitted in RIMS.

But Chief Minister O Ibobi has failed to release the amount expended in the treatment of migrant workers injured by shooting in March this year and injured victims of the December 16, 2007 Pourabi blast even though the Chief Minister had announced to provide the money spent on their treatment, he lamented.

Under such circumstances, volunteers of the Committee felt greatly deterred to continue their service.

The State Government has not yet reimbursed the Rs 50,000 spent on treatment of two migrant workers and another Rs 2.5 lakhs spent on treatment of the injured victims of Pourabi blast, Subash disclosed.

Meanwhile, the Committee has opened a donation booth in RIMS to help in treatment of the injured victims of Pandon blast.
