Imphal, February 19, 2010: A personnel of 2 Assam Rifles murdered his wife and surrendered himself to his post commander today who latter handed him over to police after court martial.

Nineteen year-old Sharla Patel, wife of Rameshwor Babupuran Patel, a rifleman of 2 AR, a resident of Aurangabad, Maharashtra, was found murdered yesterday evening around 7 pm near her rented house at Trilumjang village under Henglep sub-division of Churachandpur district in a suspicious manner.

Villagers said that they heard quarelling voices of the woman and her husband yesterday evening.

Today morning her husband, Rameshwor surrendered to his post commander admitting that he killed his wife by strangulating her.

AR authority conducted a court martial against him today itself and handed him over to Churachandpur police station where a case has been registered.

Police have already retrieved the dead body of the housewife and kept it at the morgue at Churachandpur district hospital for postmortem examination.
