Imphal, October 15 2008: The identities of the three persons who were killed by security personnel during alleged two separate encounters in Imphal last night as well as the man and the woman who were found shot dead at Urup Tanakhapat yesterday evening have been established today.

The two suspected KCPMC activists who were shot by Imphal East Police Commandos during an alleged encounter at Lambui Lamphel just in front of Imphal East DC office at around 6.40 pm yesterday have been identified as cousin brothers from Keishampat Mutum Leikai.

They were Mutum Herojit (28) s/o Kumar and Mutum Rajen (22) s/o late Ibomcha.

Though the police said they were suspected members of the proscribed KCP-MC, Kumar, father of Herojit said both of them were innocent.

After the death of Rajen's parents, Kumar has been looking after him as well.

As for Herojit, following his selection as a salesman of Telco company, he was preparing to go to Shillong tomorrow.

Kumar informed that in the afternoon yesterday his son had gone out from home driving a Kinetic Honda to do some shopping carrying along with him Rs 7000 in cash, one ATM card, two mobile phone handsets.

His son may have probably requested his younger cousin brother Rajen who worked in a rice hotel at Sagolband Salam Leikai to accompany him in the shopping, he said.

Kumar further informed that around one month back, Imphal East Commandos had arrested Herojit from home on alleged charge of being a sympathiser of the proscribed PREPAK.

However, in the statement issued by the police, it was mentioned that Herojit had been arrested from Khurai Heikru Makhong area.

But yesterday, the police said that he was suspected to be an activist of the KCP-MC.

Such contradictory statements of the police only shows that they are lying, Kumar contended, adding that both his sons may have been killed by the police commandos for the sake of the money they had carried.

Kumar also appealed to both the KCP-MC and PREPAK to come out with an explanation in this regard.

On the other hand, the suspected UG cadre that a combined force of Imphal West Commandos and 32 Assam Rifles killed during an alleged encounter at Langthabal Meitei Lamkhai at around 8.50 pm yesterday has been identified as Konsam Brajamani alias Braja (35) s/o Bijoy of Khagempalli Huidrom Leikai.

It is said some 6-7 years back, he was a member of the proscribed PLA and had been jailed in this connection.

However, after coming out from jail he was staying at home.

At around 6 pm of October 13, he had been picked up from home by some unidentified persons coming in a Gypsy.

Meanwhile, the identity of the man and the woman who were found shot dead at Urup Tanakhapat yesterday morning have also been confirmed.

The man was one Oinam Udoi Singh (22) s/p Koireng of Salungpham Kakyenbam Leikai.

He was a KCP cadre who had been arrested and jailed earlier while the woman was one Khundrakpam Ningol Laishram Ongbi Leisha (35) w/o Ningthou of Khangabok Part-I.In first week of October, she had reportedly gone from home to visit one of her brother at Kakching Khunou.

The post-mortem examination of all the bodies have been conducted at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital today and the same handed over to their respective family members.
