Imphal, October 14 2008: Three suspected UG cadres have been slain in two separate reported encounters with security forces in different places today.

In the first incident, two KCP (MC) suspects were shot dead in a reported encounter with Imphal East commandos at Lambui road, just East to Imphal East DC office under Porompat police station at about 6.40 pm today.

On receiving information of the movement of UG cadres at Lambui road, a team of Imphal East commandos moved into the area.

There they saw two bikes parked near the local crematorium.

While some unidentified persons quickly fled from the site on seeing the commandos, two of them stayed back and opened fire towards the police team.

The commandos retaliated killing both the UG suspects, informed a police source.

Two 9 mm pistols, seven live rounds, one demand letter and a Kinetic Honda have been recovered from the encounter site.

According to the driving licence recovered from the pocket of one of the slain cadres, he may be one Mutum Herojit s/o M Kumar of Keishampat Mutum Leikai.

Even as the exact identity has not been confirmed, the photograph attached to the driving licence closely look like the deceased.

The corpses have been deposited at RIMS mortuary.

In the second incident, a combined force of Imphal West commandos and 32 AR shot dead one UG suspect in another reported encounter at Langthabal Meitei Lamkhai under Singjamei police station at about 8.50 pm today.

One 9 mm pistol and7 live rounds have been recovered from the slain cadre.

Police have picked the corpse and deposited at RIMS mortuary.

Firing attack: Unidentified armed persons fired at the residence of Keisam Inaobi at Thambalkhong at about 7.35 pm today.

Inaobi is Executive Engineer at MANIDCO.

Even as there was no human casualty in the attack, some portions of the gate, house walls and windows were damaged.
