Imphal, November 13 2009: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has suggested that the State police should take up the task when the Union Home Ministry and the State Government approached for roping in the service of the investigating agency to probe into the incident of attempted carbomb attack by KCP (MC), Lanheiba group, at Raj Bhavan.

On September 18 this year, activists of the KCP (MC) Lanheiba group had driven a car fitted with 25 kgs of explosives inside the Raj Bhavan which is being guarded round the clock.

According to a reliable source, at the initiative of the Union Home Ministry, the State Govt had decided to hand over the case to NIA.

However, the investigating agency which is dealing with only terrorism related cases is of the opinion that the matter should be investigate by the State police.

Nonetheless, the State Govt has been trying to establish further communication with the agency.

Meanwhile, another source disclosed that the State Government has given its approval to procuring a large and well-equipped ambulance which could be utilised during emergency and other crisis in the State.

Similar ambulance service is already there in 10 of the Indian States, the source disclosed.
