Imphal, March 09: A person said to be a political worker of Haokholet Kipgen, the elected independent candidate from Saitu Assembly Constituency in the just concluded State Assembly election was found shot dead by unidentified persons at a secluded spot in between Tingkai and Ichum Kom under Nambol Police Station at around 8 pm yesterday.

The slain worker has been identified as Tongkhojang Kipgen (30) s/o Thangkhosang Kipgen of Lairol Khunou.

Tongkhojang was reportedly one of the close political workers of Haokholet in the recent election.

Otherwise, he was a wood cutter by profession.

Tongkhojang was allegedly called out by some unidentified persons from his house and was later found shot dead.

There were fatal bullet marks on his head and chest.

The post-mortem was conducted at RIMS morgue and the body later handed over to his family members.
