Imphal, May 04 2009: Taking strong exception to firing attacks at the residence Chief Engineer of Minor Irrigation Department M Shyambabu and similar attacks at the residences of Executive Engineers L Gourakishore, P Super and K Ramkumar in the last few days, employees of MI Department staged a protest demonstration in front of their office complex at Lamphelpat today.

Festoons which read as "Engineers, too, are humans", "Don't lob bombs at our residences", "Let us serve public freely", "Don't create any fear to staff when discharging duty" etc were put up at the protest site.

Talking to The Sangai Express, Chief Engineer M Shyambabu who also took part in the protest demonstration disclosed that there have been several demands to MI Department from insurgents operation in both hills and valley.

The protest demonstration was staged after a bomb was found placed at the residential gate of CE Shyambabu at Sagolband Tera Sapam Leirak.

At the Chingamakha Maisnam Leikai residence of EEL Gourakishore, bombs were placed not once but twice.

EE P Super was also gifted a bomb at his Kwakeithel residence.

The Tera Tongbram Leikai residence of EE K Ramkumar was also targeted by placing a bomb and firing several rounds of gun shots.
