BJP says free hand to CBI

Imphal, January 28: The election manifesto of the BJP which was released by BJP NE in charge PB Acharya today promises to free the State from the triple curses hunger, fear and corruption besides vowing to provide a clean Government and a free hand to CBI in corruption cases.

Speaking during the manifesto releasing function held at the party office, Acharya eluded full confidence that BJP will form a Government which will provide transparency and development after the elections to the Eight State Assembly.

He urged the voters to elect only clean and untainted candidates.

State unit president M Bhorot said the BJP will fight the coming polls with a view to bring a performing people's Government in the State.

He said Centre will provide a financial package to the State if the party comes to power.

If not, there Will be difficulties in improving the financial condition of the State.

Vowing to protect the territorial integrity of the State at any cost, the manifesto said it will divide Thoubal revenue district into two districts - Thoubal and Kakching and extend six lane East West Express Highway from Silchar to Moreh.

It said the party will establish NHs Protection Force and give compensation to farmers affected by the Loktak Multipurpose Hydro Electric Project besides setting up more international trade centres in the State.

On the law and order situation, the manifesto said BJP will endeavour to end the insurgency problem through dialogue and improve the condition of the State police.

It also promises to set up women police stations in all districts.

Promising more power to local bodies, the party will amend the existing land laws.

Stating it aims to declare tourism as an industry, the party said it will review the State Industrial Policy and encourage development of Information Technology.

It assured to introduce a number of insurance schemes including Mass Medical Insurance Scheme and install cold storage at all farming towns.

Besides vowing to create a separate Manipur Regiment in the army, the party said it will introduce Sports .Police, Youths Policy and special employment scheme for the educated unemployed and provide free education to girls upto degree level including technical education.

While calling for steps to recast the State AIDS Policy and drugs programmes, the party manifesto said it will encourage and streamline the age old medical system practised by Maibas and Maibees and conduct proper registration.
