Imphal, January 24 2010: Refuting the of the security forces' claim of killing Ngangbam Tony, 24 years of Uripok Tourangbam Leikai and Oinam John, 24 years of Soibam Leikai Khurai in an encounter, a press release issued by the District Commander, of the proscribed Prepak (Red Army), charged that the two were picked up from their houses and were taken to Yangbi Khunaou Wakha and shot after being tortured.

The release also refuting the claim of seizure of one AK 57 and a magazine with 7 live rounds, said one 9 mm pistol was in their possession when they were picked up the security forces in civil dress.

Giving a revolutionary salute to the two departed comrades, the release stated that Tony and John were brave and disciplined soldiers who fought for freedom and an egalitarian society.

The release in conclusion, said that Prepak (Red Army) shares in the grief of the bereaved families.
