Churachandpur, February 21: Repolling is likely to be conducted in 32 polling booths in tour of the six Assembly constituencies in Churachandpur district on February 23 where voting was marred by large scale rigging and booth capturing.

Sources said that repoll may held in nine polling stations in Churachandpur Assembly Constituency , in twelve polling stations in Saikot Assembly Constituency, seven polling stations in Singhat Assembly Constituency and in four polling stations in Tipaimukh Assembly Constituency.

Police fired some blank rounds around New Lamka areas to stop a fight between two rival groups this evening.

Workers of Nationalist Congress Party and Congress were engaged in a night long stone throwing spree at New Lamka last night.

Five persons were injured when they clashed at Yelhang Lamka, the home area of NCP candidate V Hangkhanlian at around 1 pm today.

All five have been hospitalized.

Apprehending Violence, district authorities have clamped prohibition under section 144 CrPC in Churachandpur town area from around 9 pm today.

Gathering of even two persons and possessing arms have been restricted.

Police are on the alert in the district headquarters and elsewhere.

A total of 31 ballot boxes of Churachandpur AC, 10 of Singhat, 34 of Saikot and 24 of Henglep ACs have reached the district HQs till the time of filing this report.

Polling was held peacefully in Thanlon.

However disturbances have been reported in Parvachom, Torbung and Senvon in Tipaimukh AC.

Voting went on smoothly at T Boljang which was taken as a vulnerable booth.

Our Staff Correspondent adds that an encounter ensued in Khousabung village under Thanlon AC when a 2 MR convoy was attacked by militants from around 1 pm today.
