Imphal, February 13: The Congress high powered campaign committee chairperson T Gunadhaja and convenor Vidyapati Senjam have reportedly tendered their resignation from their post today after some underground groups pressurized them for payment of monetary demands made to the party.

The Congress office was also forced to shut down by the underground groups this evening at 4 pm.

The duo have reportedly tendered their resignation to MPCC chief O Ibobi from the campaign committee today itself.

It is reported that three or four unknown youths had came to the Congress office yesterday at about 7 pm and asked for the payment of their demand but as it was not complied with, the youths demanded that the office should be closed down yesterday itself.

Following the diktat T Gunadhaja, Vidyapati Senjam and coordinator of the high powered campaign committee Manglem had been reportedly been on the run and their whereabouts has not been leaked out till this evening.

In the meantime, unaware of the situation, some Congress workers reportedly opened the office this morning.

But later in the evening at around 4 pm today, three youths came to the office and asked for its immediate closure and hence it was closed down abruptly amidst chaos.

According to a reliable source, the MPCC has received six demand notices from underground groups.

Of these three UG groups had been already negotiated with for payment and other three groups are yet to be negotiated.

The Congress had a total demand amount of more than Rs 80 lakhs pending to be negotiated from the latter three groups, according to sources.

It is widely suspected that one of these groups is reportedly behind the closure of the Congress office today.
