Imphal, February 10: Reacting to the Congress president Sonia Gandhis election speech at Mapal Kangjeibung yesterday, the BJP today said Congress chief was just reciting Congress rhymes here.

Taking a dig at Sonia, BJP said a patriotic politician knows the problem of his or her country like the back of his or her palm.

He or she needs not read from pre-written scripts.

Recalling history, BJP said that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru visited Manipur with his daughter and thrilled the simple crowd at Mapal Kangjeibung by saying, Manipur is jewel of India.

But hidden from public eyes he polished the uncut jewel by giving away Kabaw valley to Burma.

Indira Gandhi visited Manipur as Prime Minister while Manipur was a Union Territory.

While she was addressing at the same venue, a huge crowd broke out in which buses were burnt and Government buildings torched demanding Statehood.

Indira in frustration yelled over the loudspeaker these buses do not belong to me, nor to Chinese minister but to you, the party said and asked whether it was an expression of love for the State by a Congress Prime Minister.

The statement said that this time another member of the same dynasty came without any facts of what her own party is doing here.

Taking a dig at former chief minister Rishang Keishing, the statement said this time Sonia spoke one truth in saying bad politics has stoked ethnic violence.

She agrees with former Governor VK Nayars report to the President of India which squarely blamed Rishang for the ethnic clashes in Manipur.
