Imphal, October 09: Taking into account the prevailing fluid situation, the All Manipur United Clubs' Organization has appealed to all individual and organizations to uphold the integrity of the State and oppose the sinister design of the Government of India to disintegrate the people on ethnic and communal line.

In a statement issued to the press today, AMUCO accused the Union Government of repeatedly trying to distort the geographical boundary of Manipur through divide and rule policy.

On the release of 13 NSCN (IM) leaders and cadres including its Home Minister by the State Government recently, AMUCO attributed the action to helplessness of the State Government as it is a part of the Indian Union since losing its independent status in 1949.As far as Manipur continues to be under India, no State Government can ignore the pressure mounted by the Centre and act independently.

Such a situation has led the people to suspect the sincerity and capability of Manipur Govt in safeguarding the territory of the State, it said.

Polarizing issue of Manipur's integrity and Greater Nagaland on ethnic nationhood is a glaring example of the policy pursued by the Indian Union to drive a wedge between communities living together for ages and striving for peace and development, observed AMUCO.

As agreement has been reached between the GoI and NSCN (IM), attempts to foray into boundary of Manipur by the latter's activists to further its agenda should be handled suitably by India to avoid hatred and misunderstanding, AMUCO said adding only a mature approach of the people to negotiate the persistent onslaught of the Central Govt can strengthen the bond of brotherhood against all odds.
