Imphal, July 08 2009: Asserting that there is good progress in the investigation into the abduction and murder of contractor Y Krishnadas, SSP of Imphal West L Kailun has today stated that the 24 hours bandh called by the JAC Against the Killing of Krishnadas will not help the investigation of the case.

In a statement, the SSP said that the probe is conducted under the supervision SDPO of Imphal police, S Ibomcha Singh and added it is proceeding smoothly and is in the final stage.

The bandh called by the JAC from 5 am of July 9 to 5 am of July 10 is an impediment to the investigation, said the SSP and added that the question of deliberately dragging the case does not arise at all.

"It is the utmost priority of the district police to bring the culprit(s) to justice at the earliest," said the SSP.

On the other hand, calling the bandh will invite strong preventive measures from the district police, said Kailun and urged the JAC, the public and others to desist from joining/indulging in illegal and destructive activities which will prove detrimental to daily business transactions of the people as well as affect normal lives.

The JAC had called the bandh alleging that the Govt was dragging its feet in the case.
