Imphal, November 01 2009: One suspected UG cadre has been slain in a reported encounter with troops of 29 AR at New Lenten under Tengnoupal police station at about 8 pm yesterday.

It is reported that one M 20 pistol, six live rounds, one hand grenade and a pressure bomb were recovered from the slain UG suspect.

The corpse has been deposited at RIMS mortuary for identification.

The deceased appeared to be around 16 years of age.

He was wearing unfit combat dresses.

The hand grenade and the pressure bomb recovered from the UG suspect have been disposed off by AR troops, informed a source.

On the other hand, one hand grenade was found near Irilbung Forest Gate at about 11.30 am today.

The grenade was later set off safely by explosive experts of Manipur Police.
