Imphal, May 30 2009: Not ruling out high level conspiracy culminating in the assasination of Professor md Islamuddin of Manipur University, the proscribed Peoples' United Liberation Front (PULF) said as the Vice Chancellor dismally failed to ensure security within the varsity campus Prof C Amuba ought to quit from the post.

Elucidiating on the call for the VC to voluntarily tender resignation, the armed group in a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary PM Akber contended that deployment of security personnel in MU and plot of the KYKL to eliminate the former Dean of Students' Welfare Prof Islamuddin indicate conspiracy in the assassination of the only Muslim academician in the Varsity.

Moreover, reported involvement of IRB personnel in the shooting of the Professor on May 25 afternoon leaves no room to doubt unholy nexus between the KYKL organisation and the Home Department for which the VC should be held responsible, Akber insisted and proclaimed that VC Prof C Amuba has been boycotted with immediate effect.

Prohibiting the VC from entering into the MU campus, PULF declared that any untoward consequences arising out of the VC's defiance to the outfit's restriction should be the responsibility of Prof C Amuba himself.

Turning its tirade against the KYKL, Akber questioned as to why the armed group failed to act in the same manner as Prof Islamuddin was eliminated when there had been instances of certain individuals enrolled in the University whose credentials remain dubious or had eroded the education system.

Covering up gross mistakes committed by certain persons but nevertheless deciding to slay Prof Islamuddin on fictitious ground is devoid of principle around which activities of revolutionary organisations are initiated/bound, the PULF statement observed while cautioning that such double standard concept of the KYKL would be harmful to the cause of emotional integrity in a multi-ethnic society like Manipur.

PULF also speculated that as future prospect of Prof Islamuddin from becoming the VC was very bright conspiracy at the highest level to deny the Muslim figure from reaching the pinacle that every academician aspires in their service career cannot be dismissed as far-fetched, Akber maintained.

As a revolutionary organisation PULF holds the KYKL in high esteem but there seems to be some untrained and rogue elements in the latter outfit who executed the task of killing Prof Islamuddin at the behest of the present VC, he opined while asserting that actions of such elements had been emboldening the general masses to question sincerity and commitment of the KYKL in lifting the standard of education in the State.

Conveying condolence to the bereaved family of Prof Islamuddin, PULF affirmed it would not remain muted when disruptive forces try to either drive wedge between ethnic communities or attempt to subjugate interest of the minorities.
