Imphal, March 28 2009: A man was found shot dead at a paddy field near Sinam Kom village under Heingang Police Station in Imphal East District this afternoon even as report has been received of a man abducted by unidentified persons in a white Maruti van from Keisham-pat Laisom Leirak area at around 9.15 am today.

Curiously enough, the man who was found shot dead by unidentified gunmen was reportedly brought in a white Maruti Van, though connection between the two incidents is not yet been established.

According to police report, the victim was found at around 2 pm today at a paddy field located along the road side of the foothill leading to Sinam Kom village, around 15 kms east of Heingang Police Station.

The victim was reportedly brought by the killers in a white coloured Maruti van.

Identity of the victim, clad in blue tracksuits, is yet to be established and has been picked up by the police and kept at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital.

There were in all six bullet marks, two on the right cheek and four others on the chest of the man who has the tattoo of the name 'Luxman' in English and a broken arrow itched on his right arm, the police report added.

On the other hand, another police report said that one 26-year old Waheng-bam Roshan s/o Ibobi of Nungu Chairen but staying at Wangkhei Thangapat Mapal has been abducted by five unidentified persons who came in a white Maruti car from Keisham-thong Laisom Leirak area while he was walking along with his wife at around 9.15 am today.

Firing attack: Unidentified armed persons opened fire towards Police Commandos inside the complex of Himalyan Tiles located close to Lamshang Police Station in Imphal West District last night.

there is no report of any human casualty in the attack.
